This Page’s Countdown Timer Has Been About To Expire Since July

It’s currently August. The banner still reads “4th of July SALE.” The clock underneath it is still ticking down like the deal ends tonight.

“4th of July SALE. SAVE $200.” sits above a live countdown reading hours, minutes, and seconds, currently ticking down from under three hours. Below it, “LAST CHANCE TO SAVE $200 + FREE GIFT” and “Sell-Out Risk: HIGH.”

The Fourth of July was over a month ago. The banner never updated. The timer just keeps resetting, which means a reader who visited this page in July and a reader visiting it today are shown the exact same “hours left” urgency, for a holiday that’s no longer relevant to either of them.

That’s a small production detail on a page that otherwise does a genuinely solid job of building its case. Worth holding onto, because it’s the same instinct, urgency copy detached from the thing it’s supposed to be about, that shows up again later in the page, just in a subtler form.
